Chris Floyd - New Statesman / Border Force

Chris Floyd was commissioned by the New Statesman to capture the UK’s Border Force team in action - documenting a day with the crew out at sea near Portsmouth on drug and gun seizures.

“The crew live on the mothership for two weeks at a time, patrolling 24 hours. The boat is equipped with all sorts of clever stuff, including a high speed rigid hulled inflatable boat (RHIB) that can be launched within minutes and reach a speed of 50 knots for interceptions. No major hauls on the day I was with them but we did have a nice chat with a bloke who was smoking weed while fishing off his boat a few miles out.”
