Phil Fisk - In Transit - exhibition

Photographer Phil Fisk was commissioned by Uber Boat / Thames Clippers and given creative freedom to produce a body of work that celebrates the Thames Estuary, shoreline and the people who live there.

Working in his distinctive, cinematic style, Phil explored land and waterscapes, meeting residents from the surrounding communities whose lives are intimately tied to the river - from members of the RNLI and pilots with the Port of London Authority to members of the local Sikh community, sailing and rowing clubs, as well as artists and fisherfolk.

The resulting series, entitled IN TRANSIT - offers an atmospheric portrait of this ever shifting landscape and the stories held within it.

The project culminated in a public exhibition at Gravesend Town Pier in October - as part of a weekend of events, that also included a lighting workshop hosted by Phil and a Q&A with long-time Guardian & Observer picture editor Tony Bell.

We're delighted to share a small selection of the work from the project below.  Please click to view full screen.
