“It’s a real treat shooting the portraits of people as they arrive ahead of a race; the glimmers of nerves, the familiar faces, the fizzing to get out onto the road. And they’re an important record – not everyone gets to finish, but as someone who dares not step up to the plate, it’s impressive to me that each one of these people even got to the start line. Maybe that’s cheesy and hackneyed, but that’s how I see it.”
