Liz Seabrook - Fare Magazine - Athens / Eidikon

For the latest issue of Fare Magazine, Liz Seabrook travelled to Athens to photograph Eidikon - a neighbourhood restaurant where recipes, traditions and hospitality have been passed from one generation to the next.

Liz writes, “What a gorgeous treasure trove of vintage tchotchke (a word which was a crossword clue and I have no idea how to pronounce but like the look of) in a suburban neighbourhood, run by a son of a father who refused to relinquish the bookkeeping. Solid, easy, unfussy food to feed four hungry women, newly landed in the Greek capital.

Working alongside the editorial team, Liz captured not only the food, but the warmth of the people and the quiet details that bring a dining experience to life.

The resulting series is as much about culture and community as it is about what's on the table. It's exactly the kind of storytelling Liz is drawn to - and that she captures so beautifully.

It also gives the viewer a profound sense of hunger-ful wanderlust!
